Toddler Lead Teacher

Bellevue Montessori is currently seeking applications for an experienced and passionate Lead Guide for one of our Toddler classrooms for the  2024-2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and support children 18 months to 3 years old. You will join a close-knit group of passionate educators that want to make sure each child receives an equitable learning experience in our Montessori classrooms.  

Under the guidance of our Toddler Program Director, you will work in conjunction with other staff to observe, collect data, and will be using methods for enhancing speech, social skills, and emotional regulation in adherence with Montessori philosophy. Our Toddler Program Director will conduct bi-weekly check-ins to provide feedback, adjustments, and additional training.

Reports to:  Toddler Program Director

Campus: In-person at Park Campus

Salary Range:  $40,000 to $55,000 (based on a 10 month calendar)

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 3:30PM (1 hour to work from home)

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Teach toddlers and preschool students using the Montessori teaching method. 

  • Observe and monitor children’s play activities and maintain a safe and sanitary play environment. 

  • Plan and implement classroom activities to develop students’ social and motor skills and teach them shape recognition. 

  • Incorporate small group activities and guided exercises to enhance students’ physical, mental, and social development. 

  • Review the progress of each child and develop written plans to promote each child’s growth and development. 

  • Communicate with each child and develop written plans to promote each child’s growth and development. 

  • Communicate with children’s parents or guardians about daily activities, behavior, and related issues. 

  • Participate in parent/teacher conferences and assist the Center Director in organizing activities including parents. 

  • Attend staff meetings, center activities, and staff development sessions as required. 

  • Will supervise and guide 2 Classroom Assistants.

PREREQUISITES

  • The position requires an Associate’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Education. The position requires a Montessori-accredited teaching certification from AMI, AMS, IAPM, MEIPN or a MACTE accredited institute.  OR completed their MEIPN internship in the Toddler program (Preferred); however, will consider if you have at least 2 years of experience working as a Toddler Lead Teacher outside of Montessori schools and are interested and willing to take the Montessori Training at one of the accredited training centers

  • At least two years of experience working with infant / toddler

  • Positive attitude and willing to learn.  Takes initiation and is proactive

  • Flexible, reliable, and punctual

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 25lb

Per our DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Families) regulations regarding educators, we require that all employees complete a PBC (portable background check), fingerprinting, WA State Food Handler’s Permit, proof of MMR (Measles, mumps, and rubella), proof of a negative Tuberculosis skin test, CPR/FA & BBP (Blood Borne Pathogen), 30 Hours Basic Initial ChildCare, and yearly 10 STARs hours.  If not yet completed, our team will gladly help walk you through these necessary steps.
